Description

Background
A total refurbishment and extension of an existing property in Holland Park, West London, to create substantial 750m2 modern and sophisticated fully functional family home.

The Brief
The first floor entrance steps which had been removed, were reinstated, and the entrance path lined with Quercus Ilex barrel trees to create an imposing street frontage and reinstate the house with an appropriate sense of grandeur.

The rear of the property was entirely rebuilt in order to create capacious living, including two large primary bedrooms.

The lower ground floor incorporates the main living dining and kitchen spaces into a dramatic 11 x 11 metre column free space with glazed sliding doors for natural light. These open out onto an entertaining terrace and the landscaped garden.

Outcomes
The layout of the house has been vastly improved to maximise the drama of the spaces. The clean modern interior design details are complimented using marbles, silk and suede panelling to create a calm contemporary and sophisticated aesthetic, and one that is entirely functional as a contemporary family home.

A picturesque Mews house at the far end of the garden also forms part of the property. Insulation and windows were upgraded throughout to improve the energy performance of the house.
