Description

Entre Tecas is a house that was specially designed for Rancho Avellanas, a sustainable family farm dedicated to the production of artisanal goat cheeses. It was built for renting to environmentally conscious adventurers who would enjoy disconnecting from the workaday world and connecting with nature. It is indeed unique. Surrounded by teak trees on this artisanal cheese farm, it offers the tranquility of being away from the city but close to all basic amenities. Its careful placement in the middle of a dense forest of teak and native trees has created an atmosphere of balance and contrasts.
The discreet geometry of the house is oriented east to west; its dark gray color mimics the color of teak bark, allowing it to blend in with the scenery and providing a perfect camouflage. Its design is simple and light and consists of a rectangle with one façade open towards the active life of the goat farm. To address the matter of soil and rain runoff, the house stands on stilts, lifting it above the forest floor, which minimizes its footprint and impact on the environment and allows for the passage of wildlife and the circulation of air.
The layout of the house is organized for a dynamic rural lifestyle. Entering from the forest, one steps up to the central living area, a place that connects the two sleeping areas that face each other, one on the east side and the other on the west. The house opens onto a wooden terrace that stretches, under a deep overhang, to the different spaces of the house and offers a view north to the life of the goat farm.
All the wood for the project is from reforested trees planted by the clients 40 years ago; the details were handcrafted on site.
Entre Tecas represents the vision and the work begun many years ago by a family that seeks to lead a simple life in harmony with nature.
