Description

The site is located on the height” with a panoramic view of the town of Odawara and the sea. The client decided to move to this site as a final residence from Tokyo, being attracted by the streetscape of Odawara with its historical atmosphere and rich climate and nature.
On the site, there was an old house that was used as a villa by the former owner, and there are trees in the garden that bring a sense of the season, such as cherry trees and bamboo. The client asked us to design a house with the atmosphere of the town of Odawara, the sea, and the climate through the garden with these trees from the height.
So, I arranged rooms around the existing garden and the cherry trees in a circle so that the garden and view could be enjoyed from every room. They consist of six different air volumes according to their own use and gradually connect to each other. The family members do their own work and yet can feel the presence of each other.
In the semi-outdoor space, I arranged flower shape bricks so that the residents could enjoy the changes of the light. Thus, I achieved a house with a spacious garden where the residents can feel close to nature.
