Description

This ensemble of 30 houses is the latest project of the „burchten“ Carnisselande. The aim of the housing block is to create an ensemble that presents itself as one entity in the green area with a good balance between collectively an individuality. To enforce this urban identity, the block is increased in relation to the ground level.

The façade has a horizontal readability by means of the protruding concrete band. This reinforces the unambiguity of the block and unites the different types of houses. By separating those concrete ribbon per house, the individual houses become recognizable.

We chose a light grey mixed brick for the pencils, close to the colour of the concrete band. The combination of those materials gives a unit to the block but also distinguishing the other “castles”.

Due to the articulation of returning surfaces with all-round dark glazed stones, a rich and laminated facade image with depth and shadow effect is created. The additions of red-brown coloured wood frames and decorative steel fences reinforce this image.
