Description

A central theme of the school's design is the blending of interior and exterior spaces. On the ground floor, six small courtyards bring light into the special classrooms and corridors. On the upper floor, there are two larger courtyards enclosed by the regular classes. The courtyards are interwoven on two levels in such a way that they create different spaces with interesting visual connections and invite people to linger and communicate.
Each of the courtyards is designed differently using plants, floor materials and furnishings, depending on the function of the adjacent interior space. All core classes are oriented to the south for optimal exposure. Students deliberately enter the school from the south in order to widen the entire entrance area into a public space, a so-called esplanade. This esplanade provides access not only for the students but also for external users via a separate entrance to the gymnasium and multipurpose room, which can be flexibly combined with the dining hall and foyer as desired.
