The aim of the architectural competition was to redevelop the Sargfabrik for cultural uses and to create a landmark to strengthen the perception of the new residential area. For example, areas for gastronomy are created, but also as flexible as possible additional areas for offices, studios or commercial space.
A bend in the building structure creates a particularly inviting square opposite the main entrance to the educational campus, the Grätzlzentrum of the new district. This square also forms the new access to the event center, which is drawn into the inner courtyard with a seating step system, thus connecting the event center with the new quarter and creating synergies. Facing Breitenfurter Strasse, lofts are offered as three-dimensionally flexible spaces, while the wing stretching to the north offers two-dimensionally flexible office structures.
