Description Original Language (Japanese)

A one-story house where you can live with your family in a quiet residential area near the Kanto region. The newly purchased site as a place to spend a fulfilling off-time with the family is a deformed land in the shape of a hinamatsuri. Since the client wanted to live with a courtyard, the house became a house with characteristic terrain and steps.
The feature of the appearance is the massive appearance of the Sugi board formwork RC exposed finish, where the volumes of the two large concretes overlap while shifting. Taking advantage of the site characteristics that the average ground is higher than the road, a sufficient distance from the road surface to the entrance was set up, and an underground built-in garage where four cars could be parked in parallel was set up. In addition, security was taken into consideration by designing the entrance to appear after accessing the upper floors with stairs or elevators.
By setting up a small courtyard on the main floor and a large garden terrace on the south side, we have created an intermediate area where you can experience the external environment unique to a one-story building while giving consideration to privacy. In the closed kitchen, which is the wife's wish, we have set up a bar counter where you can eat as well as cook. The kitchen is gently connected to the family room with a high ceiling through the courtyard, creating rhythm and depth in the space.
At the end of the gentle step, there is a corridor where you can enjoy the shadows from the skylight, and when you move further back, you will see a private space such as a utility and a master bedroom. All of these spaces face the garden terrace on the south side, and you can enjoy your outdoor life to your heart's content without worrying about the line of sight from your neighbors.
