The improvements made to the Hotel Piolets center located in the center of Soldeu village have been carried out taking into account the peculiarities, opportunities and realities of the hotel, and are therefore specific interventions to a privileged situation, between the main road and the slopes ski.
The general intervention has been developed in four large areas of the Hotel, which were preserved in an almost original state, as well as in the design and application of the new logo and image.
The first work area has been the main access located on the main road, this entrance was previously little marked by small doors as well as a false ceiling that regularized the heights of all the entrances, Hotel and small commercial premises. The proposal, first of all, released this large porch area to mark the main entrance of the Hotel and thus enjoy more openness to the outside. This intervention has continued with the existing materiality of black stone, although on the ceiling he wanted to work with a more sculptural typology to mark and dignify this entrance as much as possible. Inspired by the mountain and rock landscapes of the country, we wanted to "materialize the mountain" following the shape of the roof that already evoked this geographical morphology. This sculptural work has also led us to be inspired by the snow, ice, water that surrounds the hotel... generating a kind of immaterial covering made with slightly deformed stainless steel sheet to generate reflections and shapes that evoke the landscape elements of local inspiration.
The second area is the reception, lobby and bar area, here, work has been done to balance the available spaces on the one hand, making better use of and providing the reception and reception areas for users. In the same way, the bar, previously central with an enclosed area, has been moved to free up even more space, giving it continuity with the reception and, most importantly, allowing better visibility towards the privileged landscape that the hotel enjoys. This large bar continues to apply the new graphic image of the logo, inspired by the mountains as well as the peculiar roofs of the Hotel, generating a vibrant surface of iron and wood. In this way, users who enter through the new entrance are accompanied by this large-scale bar that connects with the bar, generating a very powerful visual link between the main road and the ski slopes. In the center of the bar area, two large sculptural elements have been created, inspired by the forests and trees of the nearby landscape that serve as large benches.
These actions (and as we will see later) that are located between the architecture and the furniture make it possible to generate elements of a large scale but also with functionality in order to have a great impact on the space for a reduced cost. Here, the materiality is wood and vegetation, the rhythm of the slats and the lights with the presence of vegetation generates two large-scale sculptural-functional elements that help give centrality to the new and spacious bar space. And there is a third element of these characteristics that helps to minimally separate the reception from the bar. The furniture participates, as well as the space, in generating different areas of activity linked to the bar.
The next area that follows the entrance-reception bar continuity would be the dining room, this space, initially too large and too open, generated a feeling of an open canteen rather than a dining room. In addition, the privileged and specific location of the hotel meant that the first rows of tables towards the outside were much more qualitative than the rest, which little by little were seen further away from the natural light, the landscape, the views... And rightly so these views and reality that can be seen through the windows are what have inspired some large filter frames, to "materialize the views". What are these views? So forests, and in a generic way what do forests consist of? Of trees, i.e. trunks and leaves and it is this abstraction of the views that inspired us to materialize natural iron frames (windows) that frame with rhythm and vibration vegetal elements inspired by the reality of the hotel's views. These frames, in addition to filtering the space providing intimacy and creating different zones, generate vibration and above all light making them again sculptural filter elements and functional lamp dividers. These large-scale elements transform the interior space again thanks to a scale between architecture and furniture. In addition to these filters, the support furniture of the buffets has been renewed as well as other decorative elements on the walls.
The last area of intervention would be in the Spa where the atmosphere has been renewed through different vinyls and especially the homogenization of the colors of the walls. A special performance intended specifically for children around the small pool with special mirrors as well as a large "chaise longue" made with pool tubes that surrounds and decorates the central pillar, generating as seen in other areas an element of great scale and impact with very low costs. The Jacuzzi area has also been improved with the use of warm light as well as perimeter filters on the walls, to generate a much warmer and special space that
