Description
The “House Beneath the Cave” is a project that reflects the personality and lifestyle of the owner. The client had a very clear and specific vision of how she wanted her property.
The focus was to create a home that was clean, precise and offered a way of simple living. With a holistic mentality, a desire for meditation space and a strict budget, the client truly understood what she wanted, and was very hands-on in the design process. The project was successful, and the finished house has a generally calming, simple, and minimalistic feel.
A strict budget did not allow for stone, or anything excessive, in terms of floors or interior. We, therefore, built the house with the basic materials, which gave it a minimalistic effect in terms of the overall aesthetic.
The client requested sliding windows to ensure the house had an abundance of light. It was not possible to build these into the walls because of insulation conflicts. To solve the issue, we built the house first and added the spaces for the windows externally. This added an interesting accent to the overall look of the property.
